Choose Drinking Water Filters With Care

Filed under: New products — @ 12:34 pm

Today, water pollution is becoming a bigger threat day by day and that is the main reason people get drinking water filters. The water we drink isn’t produced in a laboratory. It is in fact from different natural sources from the earth from the surface of the earth such as rivers and lakes and ponds and the ocean to the underground reservoirs or hot water springs, caves and the like. Though from natural sources, the pollution present contaminates these waters in different ways thanks to mankind’s day to day activities. Both the developed and developing nations are facing the crisis of having insurmountable problems when it comes to providing clean drinking water to the population.

The water they supply to the citizens undergoes treatment for purification, but what is done in the name of filtration and purification is not enough. As consumers, we ourselves have to take up the issue as our health and wellbeing depend on pure clean water and this can be attained through drinking water filters. In surface water, the general contaminations that are found are either chemicals or pathogens. While chemicals such as calcium, sodium, iron, manganese are not toxic by nature, they pose a threat when in high concentration and this often results in making the water undrinkable.

Other elements that make water contaminated are man made pollutants such as detergents, disinfections such as chloroforms, food processing byproducts which includes fats and grease, insecticides and pesticides, petroleum and petroleum by products, industrial solvents and chlorinated solvents, pathogens like cryptosporidium parvum, Giardia lamblia, Salmonella, Novo virus and other virus and parasitic worms. The list of bacteria and other pollutants are endless.

When it comes to underground water, it is much safer but definitely not totally free from these impurities. When the soil itself is polluted, this generally leads to the contamination of underground water being polluted by different toxic substances. This polluted water, slightly refined, enters our kitchen and finally our body in the form of drinking tap water, which we assume is safe since it has already been treated. Not only is tap water contaminated, there is also no absolute guarantee that the bottled water sold in the market is absolutely germ and bateria free. Though the companies selling the bottled water spend a huge amount of money trying to portray that their products are 100 percent pollutant free, facts and research findings do not say so. Boiling the water can do as much as kill some bacteria, but they cannot remove the toxic chemicals.

As consumers, we can guard ourselves by installing in a good and quality drinking water filter. Many companies have introduced an interesting array of drinking water filters that come in different types such as counter top filters whereas some are attached under the sink while some are attached at the back of your refrigerators such as the Samsung fridge water filters EF-9603. There are also internal water filters that are attached to the refrigerators which are also available in the market. A good amount of research has been put into developing filters that kill bacteria and reduce the amount of toxics and pollutants. Some of these researches has brought upon technologies such as reverse osmosis while others employ a method of multi filtration system. Every filter product has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is better to be judicious while going on a buying spree. One thing to remember is not all filters can remove all contaminations and not all expensive ones do a better job than the other. When buying filters, beware of companies that sell undocumented products or uncertified claims as well as companies that offer different performance claims in different places.

The reverse osmosis system is currently the most advanced system of filtration. It includes an activated carbon and a membrane and can remove contaminants such as arsenic, asbestos, barium, benzene, Cadmium, Fluoride, Lead, parasites like cryptosporidium and volatile organic chemicals (VOC). One of the major advantages of having refrigerator filter is that that they save space since it can be fitted at the back of a refrigerator and can be used on refrigerators that has a water supply. The Samsung fridge water filter EF-9603 will fit Samsung refrigerator with external filters. The LG & Siemens Fridge Filter  also has refrigerators which are fitted with external filters. The LG-BL 9808 fridge filters replacement cartridges need to be replaced every six months and can be easily available and replaced hassle free.
