Choosing the Proper Tires for Your Lift Kit
Lift kits, steering stabilizers, skyjacker lift kits, truck shocks, suspension lift kits
So you’ve installed truck shocks, steering stabilizers, and even one of many Skyjacker lift kits. However you’ve decided to install larger tires. There are many factors for choosing the right size and type of tire that you want.
Choosing the right size for your tires can be very tricky. This is because there are a number of factors that you have to keep in mind. The size of your tire will ultimately depend on how much lift your kit allows for. If you’ve chosen one of the suspension lift kits that allow for a larger lift of 4 inches you’ll be able to put many different tire sizes on compared to a kit that only gives you a 1 inch lift.
When it comes to choosing the right type of tire you will have many different choices. The type of tire that you pick will ultimately depend on how much you’re going to be doing off road driving and what aspects of the tire you’re most concerned with.
All season tires are usually tires that you will have equipped on your truck to being with. These tires are not meant to be used for off road purposes. If you’re just looking to have bigger tires for a better look then you’ll want to stick with all season tires.
All terrain off-road tires are similar to all season tires in the fact that they are built for every type of condition that there is. If you are going to be trying various types of off road driving and are still going to be driving on paved roads you will want to consider getting these tires. Although they are not the best for the road or off road they will perform well in both. For the average person these tires will work best and work well with any of the lift kits that are available.
Finally there are the extreme off road truck tires. These tires have very aggressive tread designs that have been made to handle the worst terrains. They have been constructed to be able to grip in deep mud and sand as well as grip during rock crawling endeavors. If you decide to get this type of tire you will want another set of tires for the street as they do not perform well on paved roads. If your truck is designed just for off road uses then you won’t have to have a second set of tires. Usually you’ll want to have one of the larger Skyjacker lift kits installed so that you have plenty of clearance for these tires and to give you the best possible lift when you are driving off road.
While tires are an important aspect of your modifications you should still ensure that you’ve installed the proper lift kits, steering stabilizers, and various other suspension parts that will make your off road driving easier. A good quality suspension is just as important as the quality of your tires.
